Taking God at His Word

Taking God at His Word

Christian Devotional - Jesus

Every single person has a name given, they can identify with as part of their heritage – a family/last name. Each child born is named and taught that name as they grow and each child identifies with that name. It is practically impossible if not inconceivable for a child named John to ask his parents as he becomes older and is able to reason, “Mom, Dad, are you sure my name isn’t Thomas???” We accept the names we’re given as our identity without question.

More important than the identity our names give, is the identity and name we embrace as children of God who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This identity cannot and should not be questioned or disputed by anyone concerning a child of God that has been blood washed by the shed blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary.

When God says the following about us, we should take Him at His Word, embrace our heritage in Christ and live it to the fullest to the glory of God:

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthians 6:18.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit-fruit that will last-and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
John 15:16.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9.

Our responsibility to our Heavenly Father, as mandated by Jesus Himself is for everyone with the name of Jesus (as co-heirs) to be a part of the mission work, on the mission field, sharing the gospel of salvation everywhere.

The Bible does not list any criteria regarding a preferred personality or character in order to witness or evangelize. We are simply given the instruction (in the same way our earthly father gives us instructions) to “Go and make disciples…” God needs your shine! Don’t let your wrong) perception/opinion of yourself or those of others – human condemnation, as to your calling for this hinder you from fulfilling your God given responsibility for which your reward is great in Heaven. See yourself as God see you!
