Being Decisive for Christ

There will always be decisions to be made in our lives that cause us to speculate, second guess ourselves, doubt, or even stall in the process, such that no decision is made. For the most part, our feelings are borne out of the fact that we do not want to make the wrong decision, which is perfectly understandable. There is the need for caution however, perhaps a reevaluation of our mindset and maybe even how much faith we are exercising when it comes to making decisions that pertain to the Word of God and the will of God.
As believers in the Word of God – Christians, there must be more than just our verbal declaration that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. The Bible lets us know that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). As Christians, there are certain “works” that cannot be seen as discretionary. We must be mindful of the mercy and grace of God through which the “ultimate work” itself has been completed – Jesus dying on a cross, bearing the sins of all for the purpose of our salvation; which caused Him to utter the words “It if finished!” after being tortured on the cross. He thereafter bowed His head and gave up His spirit. (John 19:30).
Even before the crucifixion of Jesus, He was moved with compassion when He saw the multitude, and informed His disciples that “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9: 35-37). Jesus was moved with compassion, so should we. Having declared faith in Jesus Christ, we are the laborers of love that should – that must “Go” and make disciples (Matthew 28:16-20). Let us be decisive about this “going”. Let us be decisive for Christ’s sake, knowing this is a settled matter; not one for us to contemplate on. We show faith by taking Him at His Word and by obeying His Word. There is a harvest waiting. In the natural order of things, unharvested crops when ripe, go bad, get worse, wither and die. Human souls are that harvest the Bible is referring to. We have a responsibility!
